Newsletter Writing and Production

In my COM 336 (Newsletter Writing and Production) class at North Carolina State University, our final class project was a cumulative test of our skills developed in the class. The final class project served as a comprehensive assessment of the skills we developed and learned in the course throughout the semester.

For this project, my professor provided an abundance of text and photos that I was required to use and format in an aesthetically pleasing way. He provided several formatting and design rules that I was required to follow.

Copyfitting: I adjusted and managed text to fit within specified spaces without compromising readability or design aesthetics.

Headline and Caption Writing: I demonstrated the ability to write captions that are concise while also capturing the audience’s attention.

Prioritizing Content: I prioritized information and ensured the most crucial information was emphasized accordingly.

Attention to Detail: Through a meticulous and intentional approach, I maintained a consistent format that created a professional and polished newsletter that followed all formatting and design principles.

Pamphlet Design

In the same Newsletter Writing and Production course, we were also given the task of creating a pamphlet to promote NC State Athletics. Using my knowledge in design principles, I created a creative layout that allowed for balance and easy readability. My captions compliment the information provided in the pamphlet, enhancing the reader’s engagement and understanding. Additionally, my creativity shows through my use of carefully selected colors and images that well represent NC State athletics.

Promotional Materials

In my role as Key Holder at Kendra Scott, I assist in event marketing by designing promotional materials in collaboration with the Assistant Store Manager of Events. My work includes designing in-store signage for birthday promotions and special events, ensuring our visual messaging aligns with the brand’s aesthetic and engages our customers effectively.
